Ron Biscardi is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Context Capital Partners, an investment alternatives specialist focused on seeding and overseeing funds in hedge fund, liquid alternatives and private equity sectors. At Context, he is responsible for overall firm management, including growth initiatives, strategic partnerships and investment activities. He has over 20 years of business management, strategy and investment experience across start-ups, hedge funds, private equity and asset management.

An industry veteran of more than 28 years, John’s experience encompasses trading, venture capital, asset allocation and hedge fund portfolio management. John is the Chief Investment Officer at Context Capital Partners. As CIO he is responsible for sourcing new investments and the oversight of the current portfolio. He is also Chairman of the Investment Committee.

Prior to assuming his current position with Context, John ran the investment committee and was Chief Investment Officer for a large family office where he oversaw a portfolio of hedge funds and was responsible for asset allocation decisions. In addition to his family office background, John was a founder of Gamma Investors, a venture capital fund that invested primarily in financial services technology companies. He spent the early years of his career in New York and London as a partner at Cooper Neff and Associates, a quantitative proprietary trading firm. At Cooper Neff he founded the London office and traded derivatives on fixed income, commodities and equities. That firm was sold to BNP Paribas in 1995 where John became an Executive Vice President, a position he held until 2000.

Among his extensive outside activities, John is chairman of the board of directors at Urban Promise, an innovative urban youth organization headquartered in the city of Camden NJ. John received his undergraduate degree in Business and Economics from Rutgers University and earned a Master of Liberal Arts, from the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Troob co-founded Troob Capital Management LLC in 2002.  As Chief Investment Officer, Mr. Troob leads TCM’s opportunistic investment strategy investing across asset classes, capital structures, industries and geographies in both liquid and illiquid investments.  His responsibilities include portfolio construction and management, as well as risk management.  Mr. Troob has extensive experience investing in deep value and distressed situations, as well as restructurings.  He has significant experience investing in illiquid situations, identifying, evaluating and managing these investments to exit.  Since its founding, Mr. Troob has applied TCM’s investment approach to its various opportunistic strategies.

Prior to founding TCM, Mr. Troob was a Principal at Everest Capital where he was focused on distressed securities, capital structure arbitrage and special situations.  Prior to joining Everest Capital, Mr. Troob was a Partner at Contrarian Capital Management LLC, a distressed debt and special situation hedge fund, where he was responsible for all aspects of the investment process with active involvement in driving value-creating events. Mr. Troob was also an associate in corporate finance at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, a financial analyst at Kidder Peabody and an associate at The Geneva Companies.  Geneva Companies, a Troob family owned business, became the largest small business broker in the country and was sold to Citigroup in 2000.  Mr. Troob also manages his family’s investment partnership, TF Investments.  Mr. Troob is a published author of Monkey Business: Swinging Through the Wall Street Jungle. Mr. Troob received a B.A. and graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Duke University in 1991, and received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1995.
